Intel Core i9-11900K benchmark with fewer cores rivals Core i9-10900K

After the presentation of the Intel Rocket Lake-S, now the first benchmarks have been leaked. Specifically, the benchmarks of the Core i9-11900K have been seen, which faces the Core i9-10900K. The new generation of processors has two fewer cores and four fewer threads in the high-end, compared to the Comet Lake-S. Despite this, it is up to the task.

Rocket Lake-S loses cores compared to Comet Lake-S because it uses an imported architecture. The Rocket Lakes are based on the Sunny Cove @ 10nm architecture of the Tiger Lake-U. When imported to the 14nm node, fewer cores can be integrated, which will affect the final multicore performance.

Intel Core i9-11900K in benchmark approaches Core i9-10900K

Obviously, a Core i9-10900K processor from the Comet Lake-S family will perform better in multicore. This processor has 10 cores and 20 threads. But, the Core i9-11900K is better at single core at supporting higher frequencies. Of course, it stays in 8 cores and 16 threads, less than its predecessor.

Both processors, on the other hand, have been paired with an NVIDIA RTX 3080 for gaming performance. We can see that the benchmark performance of the Core i9-11900K closely matches the 10900K in performance. Having PCIe 4.0 in the 11900K and a little more frequency would serve to compensate for the loss of cores.
