Semiconductor shortage will affect Black Friday shopping

We have barely started the month of November and the warnings about what Black Friday brings us are beginning to arrive, as yesterday we wrote a guide to take advantage of Black Friday. In one of the points we explained that it is expected that there will be a crisis of carriers that could put at risk that our purchases arrive in time for Christmas, but we must not forget that we are still in a crisis of shortage of semiconductors that will also greatly affect the Black Friday.

Almost all electronic device manufacturers are doing what they can with their available resources, but they have been warning us for months that the shortage of components will make it difficult to insure electronic devices, especially in times of high volumes of demands such as Black friday The chief executive of semiconductor design firm Arm, warned that chip shortages may result in disappointment for shoppers ahead of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the holiday season.

A Black Friday plagued by semiconductor shortages

The Arm firm warns that the disparity between supply and demand is the most extreme that has ever existed. He warns that the consequences of the chip shortage may last even into Christmas 2022, with silicon waiting lists reaching 60 weeks. They warn us that if we have not yet purchased all of our devices, we may not be able to purchase them.

Arm also claims that semiconductor manufacturers are spending billions each week to increase capacity, both expanding current manufacturing plants and building new ones. But for now, only limited optimization can be done, while building a new factory from scratch takes several years, which will be when this component crisis begins to subside.

As chip shortages and supply chain disruptions are expected to lead to stock shortages across almost all device categories, it is recommended that you purchase as soon as possible to ensure availability and products arrive on time. for vacations. It is possible that by waiting for the Black Friday offers instead of doing them now, we will be unable to buy new consoles, components or any electronic device that we want to buy.
