Cinebench R20, update of the best benchmark software for processors

The Cinebench benchmark is updated by Maxon, releasing the Cinebench R20 software, a major update that adds new benchmark techniques.

Benchmark tools, both synthetic and gaming, help us know what the hardware performance is. Maxon is the developer of some of the most important benchmark software, such as Cinebench R15. This software now takes over with Cinebench R20. We are talking about one of the most accurate and best valued benchmarks to know the performance of the processors. Besides Intel and AMD, it is mostly used by reviewers and overclockers.

Maxon Releases Cinebench R20 Benchmark

Cinebench R15 is a very popular tool but it was released in September 2013. This tool has been around for a while and a new, more modern tool is needed and adapted to new processors with thousands of cores. New techniques and optimizations have been added for this new benchmark tool. Perhaps the most prominent is the implementation of rendering with Cinema 4D, on which the software's score is based.

Something remarkable about this update is that the GPU benchmark has been dropped. Although the software allows to see the performance of an OpenGL-based GPU, this tool was not used. Although the processor function is highly valued, the graphics function was somewhat weak and has never quite caught on.

A curious aspect is that this software cannot be downloaded directly. It can only be had if we have Windows 10 and access the Windows Store. For those who use a computer with MacOS, they must go to the App Store to download it. There is no data that indicates that it will be downloaded in the future, something negative, since it leaves Linux users out of the moment. We will see if an executable arrives or is it only for the Microsoft and Apple Store.
