#Computex2018: MSI MEG X399, a new motherboard for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors

Introduced at Computex 2018, the MSI MEG X399 motherboard, which is compatible with AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors, offering support for seven M.2 drives.

New presentation at Computex 2018, in this case by MSI, who has shown a new motherboard developed for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. The funny thing about this motherboard is that it would be based on the X399 chipset, but AMD is supposed to present the second generation Threadripper, therefore, we do not fully understand the presentation of this motherboard, unless there is no new one motherboard for these new processors. The MSI MEG X399 Creation has some cool features

The MSI MEG X399 Creation is on show at Computex 2018.

This motherboard is based on the AMD TR4 socket, for the Threadripper, it has eight DDR4 DIMM sockets, supporting a maximum of 128GB in a Quad Channel configuration. This motherboard has a configuration of no less than 19 phases VRM with a special heatsink. Deploying that many phases is likely to be intended to support the next second-gen Threadripper, which could double the number of cores.

MSI MEG X399 Creation, has three M.2 slots, which implement a special heatsink to prevent overheating and performance is affected. MSI has also reported that this motherboard offers support for seven M.2 drives, but for this we would need the MSI M.2 Xpander-AERO, which plugs into a PCIe x16 slot and offers another four M.2 slots.

Regarding connectivity, this motherboard has two Intel Gigabit Ethernet ports and offers support for Intel WiFi. It has nine USB 3.1 Type-A ports and one USB 3.2 Type-C port, in addition to HD sound with support for 7.1 HD configurations.
