HWInfo accuses motherboard makers of damaging AMD Ryzen 3000 processors
Currently, AMD's position in the processor market is very good, with notable growth. The company is in a great position, thanks to its modular design Ryzen processors. The HWInfo software, in its latest update, adds a sensor reading that would indicate if the motherboard is cheating the processor. This deception would be occurring in motherboards for AMD Ryzen 3000 processors.
AMD Ryzen 3000 processors rely on the motherboard VRM controller for power consumption data. Thus, the energy chip is the one in charge of managing the voltage and current. This allows the processor to modify the Boost frequencies, always within the consumption limits established by AMD.

Managing voltage and currents properly is important to reach Boost frequencies. These parameters are especially crucial when it comes to overclocking. In the end what we need is a stable voltage and current that allow us to maintain the working frequencies.
But apparently motherboard manufacturers have found a way to fool the processor. Apparently, the motherboard would supply more power while the processor thinks that it works within optimal parameters. The HWInfo developers would have found a way to calculate the deviation between the consumption indicated by the CPU and that offered by the VRM phases.
This sensor is called “Power Reporting Deviation” and what it shows us is a percentage value. A deviation of 95-105% is considered normal values, respecting the specifications of AMD. Any deviation from this parameter could indicate a higher power supply than specified by AMD. What would be sought is to increase the temperatures of the processor and thus wear it to reduce its useful life.
Although it may seem like an attack on AMD, it would be more of an attack on motherboard manufacturers. It can be read, if we go to the absolute conspiracy, that Intel could pay motherboard manufacturers to carry out these practices and undermine the credibility of AMD wins in these years. All quite strange, really.
