Nvidia DLSS 2 outperforms AMD FSR 2 in 26-game benchmarks
According to a recent series of benchmarks comparing gaming image upscaling technologies from the two major GPU manufacturers, NVIDIA and AMD, NVIDIA's upscaling comes out on top. DLSS 2 crushes AMD's FSR 2 technology by a "definitive analysis» of 26 games.
YouTube channel Hardware Unboxed recently posted a video comparing AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution technology to Nvidia's DLSS 2 upscaler in 26 games. This has created what they call "Super Resolution"the definitive analysis of both technologies«.
DLSS beats FSR in 26 games when comparing image quality
In conducting this review, Hardware Unboxed has compared the quality of DLSS 2 and FSR 2 and has scored each game at 4K and 1440p resolutions on each scaler's quality and performance settings. In tests, There hasn't been a game where AMD's FSR 2 technology offered higher levels of image quality than DLSS. But there have been cases in which both technologies tie to 4K.
A rating scale was released that Hardware Unboxed used to compare DLSS 2 and FSR 2. This scale has been used to highlight where one technology is slightly better than the other, moderately better than the other, or significantly better than the other.
En general, DLSS 2 beat FSR 2 more forcefully when used at resolution 1440p, and when DLSS performance mode is used at 4K and 1440p. This suggests that DLSS handles lower resolution inputs better than FSR 2. The two technologies often tied at 4K resolutions with quality mode enabled.
Based on the general conclusions of Hardware Unboxed, there is no case where AMD's FSR 2 technology performs better than Nvidia's DLSS technology. This means that users of Nvidia RTX graphics cards should almost always use Nvidia's DLSS 2 upscaler instead of AMD's FSR 2 upscaler. He also adds that AMD's upscaling technology has clear room for improvement, but that's not in itself a bad result. But it is that the comparison that they have made in those 26 games, does not exceed NVIDIA.
