Overclocker Der8auer manages to take the AMD FX-8350 processor up to 8,1 GHz
Long ago, in a hardware galaxy far, far away, there was an architecture known to be a disaster in power and temperatures. The AMD Bulldozer architecture was a major disaster, being the latest monolithic processor architecture from AMD. The FX-8350 was one of the best sellers of the time, although it was not a great success due to the problems mentioned.
AMD Bulldozer architecture processors had up to 4 real cores, not 8 cores as AMD said. This caused the company to receive a lawsuit for lying in specs, which he eventually lost. Now this FX-8350 processor comes back to life thanks to Der8auer, who has taken one of these processors and has given it a go.

Although the Bulldozer architecture had quite a few problems, Der8auer has managed to put this processor through the nines. Despite being 8 years old, the German overclocker has managed to put it at a frequency never seen before. For this you have installed an Elmor EVC2 controller and a diagnostic chip. This has been installed to have additional information regarding the VRM phases of the used ASUS 970 Pro Gaming / Aura motherboard.
You have installed a Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM working at a frequency of 2666MHz on this motherboard. A liquid nitrogen system has been used to cool the processor. Reaching a frequency of 8127MHz with a vCore of 1.92V, which increases heat generation considerably.
This FX-8350 processor was based on 32nm lithography, which was not exactly efficient. Previously this processor at a frequency of 7500MHz consumed 100W… in a single core.
Obviously the performance of this processor, despite the frequency, is far from performing as modern processors. Under Cinebench R15 the FX-8350 scores 172 points, while the Ryzen 5 2600X scores 176 points. An interesting milestone, to say the least.
