AMD's EPYC ROME could be released during the third quarter of this year

New information indicates that the AMD EPYC ROME based on 7nm, could reach the market during the third quarter of 2019

AMD CEO Lisa Su is expected to explain the company's upcoming releases at the Computex 2019 Keynote at the end of the month. It will be then when the new AMD Ryzen 3000 Series are presented. We may also see or report on the Threadripper, the EPYC and perhaps also Navi. Before all this, it seems that the release date of the EPYC ROME in 7nm is confirmed. According to the latest information, it will be in the third quarter of 2019, a few months after the Ryzen.

AMD EPYC ROME to hit the market in Q3 2019

Partially thanks to the launch of ROME, the company could see its data center market share increase. According to preliminary data in 2020, AMD could have 10% of this market. Brian Krzanich, who was CEO of Intel, says he wouldn't want to see AMD absorb 15% of this market. A figure that is currently not crazy, considering the serious problems of its direct competitor.

The situation for AMD is favorable, since there are important companies in the sector that have been interested in its products. One case is Dell, who in its EMC branch will offer up to three times more systems based on EPYC processors.

"Of the 50 platforms we have today, three of them are AMD, we will probably triple that by the end of this year," they say from Dell.

If this trend is confirmed and Intel is still unable to advance 10nm, the Xeons could lose a lot of weight in the industry. A fundamental industry for everything and that moves billions of dollars.

So much so that Forrest Norrod, from AMD, has put his chest out on EPYC: “ROME was designed to compete favorably with the Xeon“ Ice Lake ”, but that chip has no chance against ours. We are incredibly excited… "
