America now goes for Chinese foundry SMIC

The trade war between China and the United States has Huawei as a great victim. In the task of isolating and depriving Huawei, the United States has forced TSMC not to produce more chips for the Chinese company. Huawei has pulled the Chinese foundry SMIC, which also produces chips of all kinds, although it is not as advanced as TSMC.

Well, the United States now aims to hinder the progress of SMIC company as much as possible. The idea of the United States is to add SMIC to the blacklist of companies, as it has already done with Huawei. This implies that any American company should ask permission to work with the Chinese smelter.

America now goes for the SMIC foundry

After the harassment and demolition of Huawei, the next Chinese company to be persecuted by the United States has been responsible for TikTok. The popular video app is being persecuted by the United States and could be banned. Microsoft would be finalizing the acquisition of this company, in an act that could practically be considered a theft.

Logically, the Chinese foundry SMIC has not been slow to respond to the United States. They have stressed that the company is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and on mainland China. They emphasize that the company strictly complies with the laws and regulations of the countries and regions in which it operates. They also note that they have very good cooperative relationships with well-known American and international semiconductor equipment suppliers.

They also indicate that the United States Department of Commerce has issued several important export licenses to import equipment purchased by SMIC over many years.

Chinese foundry statement

Reuters and other media outlets reported that relevant departments of the US government are considering placing SMIC, mainland China's largest chipmaker, on a trade blacklist.

In this regard, SMIC solemnly declares that, as an international manufacturer of integrated circuits listed on both the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Mainland China Stock A, SMIC strictly abides by the laws and regulations of the relevant countries and regions, and has been operating legally and in accordance with regulations on this basis; and has established years of good cooperative relationships with various well-known American and international semiconductor equipment suppliers.

SMIC products and services are used in both civil and commercial applications. SMIC has never had any commercial activity involving military applications and has no relationship with the Chinese military.

Therefore, we are shocked and puzzled, any report of SMIC's involvement in the military is false. SMIC is willing to communicate with relevant United States government agencies in a sincere, open, and transparent manner to resolve any potential disagreements or misunderstandings.
