Filtration of the AMD RX Vega reveals some graphics cards that will give a lot to talk about

Filtered slides referring to the AMD RX Vega graphics cards, which shows the performance of the new AMD graphics and that there will be four new graphics cards that will give a lot to talk about.

We already have the AMD RX Vega here. This is the great leak that we have been waiting for weeks on the new graphics cards and the truth is that it has been waiting. After the first photographs of an AMD RX Vega graphics card taken from a video and with quite poor quality, we have the first interesting and relevant data about this graphics card. The slides give us a lot of information, such as the benchmarks of these new AMD graphics against NVIDIA solutions. Let's see what they bring us.

First of all. Let's be cautious, since we have seen that the AMD Ryzen came to eat the world and have come out with problems. They perform in pure computing tasks equal to or more than Intel, but in gaming it is now when they have improved performance. AMD Vega is apparently more polished and crafted than AMD Ryzen, but let's be cautious this time.

AMD RX Vega over NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti?

Apparently the first slide refers to the fact that the graphics performance of the AMD RX Vega is double with respect to the NVIDIA graphics cards, although the truth is that we do not see what graphics card it refers to. We don't have enough data to affirm this, but at 4K Ultra resolutions it would perform twice as much in two of the most complex games on the market right now such as DOOM and Ashes of the Singularity. We imagine that the comparison is with the GTX 1080 Ti and the rest of the components, such as processor, motherboard and others are the same. It is also not clear if it is under DirectX 11 or DirectX 12, the latter, where AMD has much more advantage, although the latest NVIDIA drivers have reduced this difference a bit.

HBM2 vs. GDDR5X

This slide does refer directly to the GTX 1080 Ti. The image refers to the performance of 4GB HBM2 is higher than 11GB GDDR5X. It refers to the latest NVIDIA graphics card, because it is the only one that has 11GB of GDDR5X memory and this is an evolution of the one used in the Titan X Pascal and GTX 1080. The HBM2 is characterized by having a great bandwidth for the cache, among others, which improves performance significantly.

Brain & soul

Interesting phrases 'It's got a brain' (they have a brain), and 'It's got a soul' (they have a soul). The soul seems to be the new NCUs, which are the replacements for the GCNs. This is the second time we've seen a slide where Next Generation Compute Unite is referenced, but it's the first time there's been talk of doubling performance per clock cycle and quadrupling performance per watt, which is mind-boggling. The latest AMD R9 Fury had the problem of having an outstanding consumption and generating brutal heat, while in the Polaris things improved slightly, the consumption was also quite high.

AMD Gaming Evolved

AMD's Gaming Evolved technology will take on more weight with the AMD RX Vega. They have sought to launch a competing solution. It is seen in the slide that Gaming Evolved includes new effects, among which AMD Spectrum stands out, which seems to be a technology that extends or improves the RGB color gamut through software. We do not have data on its operation, but it could be that it was to offer more pure and real colors, who knows. AMD Gravity does not need many explanations, since it seems a solution for physics, similar to NVIDIA PhysX, seeing a scene of Prey using this physics engine. AMD HDAO2 looks like an upgrade to the HDAO system, which would offer a quality on-screen ambient occlusion system in order to compete with NVIDIA's much more popular HBAO +.

Radeon RX Vega

The image requires little explanation. The first shows a graphics card based on AMD RX Vega with three Display Ports and an HDMI. This slide makes it clear that there will be a graphics card that will have 16GB HBM2 and we do not know if all or some will have a base frequency of 1600MHz, something that NVIDIA graphics leaves in some cases for the Boost mode on their graphics cards.

The most interesting is 'Galaxy of GPUs'. It is clear that there will be four graphics cards at least. The otherwise smallest, the AMD Rage will have 4GB HBM2, 3584 Stream Processors and a base frequency of at least 1400MHz. Next up is the AMD Rage X, with 8GB HBM2, also 3584 Stream Processors and a base frequency of at least 1500MHz. The monstrous AMD Rage x Fury stands out, which will have 8GB HBM2, 4096 Stream Processors and a base frequency of 1600MHz and to cool it will have an All-in-One liquid cooling system.

Mention separately the AMD Rage X2 Fury, which as its name suggests, will be two GPUs on a single PCB. It is indicated that it will have 8GB HBM2, but possibly we are talking about 16GB HBM2, since each of the GPUs could have its two stacks of HBM2 memory (that is why in the first slide it indicated the 16GB HBM2). This graphics card will have 4096 Stream Processors and a base frequency of 1600MHz.

Everything points to a wccftech joke for April's Fools, very elaborate, by the way, but who knows if the river carries water.
