AMD Radeon RX 590 leaked thanks to 3DMark Time Spy?
The benchmark of the AMD Radeon RX 590 is seen by surprise in the 3DMark Time Spy that rules out a new family of GPUs.
We have gone from not having news about AMD graphics to having an apparent saturation of information, some of it contradictory. If a few days ago we commented on the possible appearance of the Radeon RX 600 Series, now it seems that it will not be yes and it is that the 3DMark Time Spy has revealed a Radeon RX 590 of which we did not have the least information so far.
AMD Radeon RX 590 Appears in 3DMark Time Spy
The information so far did not point to a new graphics family in itself, but a new graphics card and it was thought in the first instance that it was information from a GPU that would end up forming the new RX 600 Series family, but this seems ruled out with the RX 590, which uses a GPU based on the 12nm of GlobalFoundries, something that will allow to improve the performance and the efficiency with respect to the RX 580 manufactured in 14nm.
Using this new lithography, the reference model (according to this filtration) would operate at a frequency of 1545MHz, a frequency that could be achieved with relative ease with the RX 580. In this case it is achieved without excessively affecting energy consumption with a setting of tensions, while 8GB of GDDR5 memory will continue to be used.
These graphics cards do not come with new architecture and are a solution to get out of the way while presenting a solution that competes with the new NVIDIA RTX and with the 'old' NVIDIA GTX. Additionally, according to the data provided, we should see a performance improvement of between 10-15 percent. It seems that it is a contingency plan until Navi arrives and it is that stretching the gum that Polaris (like Intel's 14nm) does not make sense.
