Intel chipset data leaked for Comet Lake and Ice Lake

New data is filtered regarding the new chipsets for the Intel Comet Lake and Ice Lake, the latter theoretically based on 10nm.

It seems that the leakage of information regarding Intel does not stop. A while ago it was announced that the company launched the LGA1151v2 socket with the Comet Lake-S. Not only will the chipset be changed, but also the motherboard will be mandatory for the new socket. Now more data has also been released about the new chipsets. Within the drivers for Intel chipsets 10.1.18010.8141 have appeared data of the compatibility with PCH-LP.

New Intel chipset data appears

Platform Controller Hub - Low Power for Comet Lite and Ice Lake appear referenced in these new drivers. This driver lets us see that there are new chipsets on the way. We can find inside a text file where the 400 Series chipset for Comet Lake (CML) is referenced. Comet Lake is the replacement for Coffee Lake and Coffee Lake Refresh. These new CML processors will also be based on 14nm lithography and will come with up to 10 cores and 20 threads.

On the other hand, we have the Ice Lake (ICL) chipset that will be the replacement for the Cannon Lake (CNL). This chipset will be marked as Intel 495 Series. The funny thing about this is that Cannon Lake is known only for the Core i3-8121U processor that is based on 10nm. This chip was released for laptops only in the Chinese market.

Ice Lake aims to be the first contact of users with 10nm and see what this lithograph can offer. The first 10nm processors will have interesting features such as support for Thunderbolt 3 and WiFi 6 (IEE 802.11ax). These new Ice Lake processors will also have double the L2 cache that has not been modified since Nehalem. Finally Ice Lake will integrate Gen11 graphics that will offer up to 1TFLOP in double floating point.
