GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 'sold out' on the NVIDIA website or recalled due to the detected defect?
Right now you cannot buy NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition graphics on the official website because they appear as sold out.
A few hours ago we echoed that NVIDIA had indeed recognized that the problems of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti had their origin in a first batch of graphics of this series whose PCB had some kind of defect. The company has not given more data in this regard, but this information seems to rule out that the problem is in the GDDR6 memories. The company has replaced all the graphics that have presented defects at no cost to the customer, but now, the RTX 2080 Ti on the NVIDIA website appears as sold out.
Does NVIDIA stop selling GeForce RTX 2080 Ti due to PCB issues?
It is quite likely that the company has decided to withdraw the stock of its digital store until it verifies the extent of the problem. They have probably decided to review all the company's graphics cards one by one to avoid the costs of collecting a faulty graphic from the customer and sending him a new one without defects.
Quite possibly the company knows where the problems in these charts are and wants to fix it before having to spend more money on RMA. It is even possible that if the defect is in the PCB itself, they remove all the components they can and install them on new PCBs that do not present this defect, something that will cause losses to the company, but that it can assume perfectly and more taking into account what expensive are these GeForce RTX.
Whenever a product is launched on the market, it may be that a defect in the product has occurred in the first instance. This type of problem is not typical in NVIDIA, because they are usually quite conscientious in reviewing the products before sending them to the customer, although in this case, it seems that they have missed a fairly large error.
