Gigabyte would be preparing an M.2 NVMe SSD based on PCIe 4.0 that would offer up to 5000MB / s read
Information appears that suggest that Gigabyte would be working on an NVMe SSD with PCIe 4.0 connectivity that would offer up to 5000MB / s of reading.
Gigabyte motherboards with the B450 and X470 chipset received a BIOS update this week. This update not only offers support for the AMD Ryzen 3000, it also adds support for PCIe 4.0. Supposedly this port will offer better performance to graphics cards, especially considering the new AMD Navi. Well, Gigabyte would be finalizing the next release of M.2 SSD memories under the PCIe 4.0 port. Thanks to this connectivity, a significant performance improvement would be achieved.

This information has been leaked by Andreas Schilling (the tweet has already been deleted), who has been characterized in the past for making other leaks. The new AORUS drive with PCIe 4.0 interface would be based on the NVMe 1.3 protocol. Such a new drive would offer higher performance than current PCIe-based drives. As revealed, it would offer up to 5000MB / s read and offer up to 4400MB / s write.
These units will be compatible with current PCIe 3.0 motherboards, but to get the maximum performance we must have an M.2 PCIe 4.0 motherboard. If you don't have one of the motherboards supported by BIOS update, you will need to buy one with the X570 chipset.
Very possibly we will see these new storage units during Computex 2019. It will be then when we really see this unit, the capacity of these units, the market price and availability.
