Google starts selling refurbished products
Google has opened its store to refurbished products. It offers the same guarantee at a reduced price if we accept that they have been used by other people.
Google recently started selling certified refurbished devices through its online store. The good news for everyone is that customers can now buy certain products at a much lower price than usual, but the bad news is that Google hasn't included any phones in their offering. It's a shame since if we want one of the great Pixel we will have to buy it completely new if we want it officially. That or go to one of the many second-hand portals, but that does not offer us a guarantee.
Refurbished products now available.
Spotted by the folks at AndroidPolice, the “refurbished devices” section contains just two products at the moment: Pixelbooks and Google WiFi 3-packs. Each product is available in limited quantities, but the prices aren’t as good as you might expect from other outlets.
For example, the 5GB i128-processor Pixelbook is available for purchase for $ 749, although the device has been on sale many times before for only $ 600. On the other hand, Google's 3-pack WiFi can be had for just $ 179, a much better deal considering that the pack typically retails for around $ 260.
The refurbished devices page doesn’t appear to be live anywhere other than the US. While you may see a “refurbished” link on the Google Store in other countries, clicking on it will redirect you to the homepage.
It's hard to say if Google plans to populate the page with more refurbished products or if this is just a spot test. In any case, we would love to see some Pixel phones as well, so we will keep an eye on the Google Store for any announcements about it.
