Almost a quarter of Steam users still use a GTX 1000

When we think of PC Gaming, users who have very high-end graphics to play games in the best possible quality come to mind. But the reality is that those enthusiasts who have state-of-the-art hardware barely exceed a tenth of the Steam users surveyed.

Valve has taken the hardware survey of its users and it can be seen that more users have a high-end graphics card, such as the RTX 3000 or RTX 2000 in the case of NVIDIA, or a RX 6000 in the case of AMD. But there is still a considerable part of users who do not have the latest graphics and use graphics from a few years ago that today are considered mid-range.

The PC Master Race is not representative of PC gamers

The list of percentage of Steam users who in November have a graph of the families they have listed, all of them having to be compatible with DirectX 12, is as follows:

  • RTX 30-Series rises from 9.47% to 11.23%
  • RTX 20-Series rises from 13.63% to 13.83%
  • GTX 16-Series drops from 18.31% to 17.46%
  • GTX 10-Series drops from 24.98% to 24.48%
  • GTX 900-Series drops from 4.49% to 4.34%
  • RX 6000-Series rises from 0.51% to 0.58%
  • RX 5000-Series drops from 1.78% to 1.76%
  • RX Vega and VII) drops from 0.86% to 0.82%
  • RX 500-Series 4 drops from 4.65% to 4.56%
  • RX 400-Series drops from 0.79% to 0.76%
  • R9 Series drops from 0.40% to 0.39%
  • Integrated Graphics Vega APU down from 2.72% to 2.67%
  • Integrated graphics drops from 3.88% to 3.73%

The number of high-end users is seen to grow, but they are still far from representing a notable majority. Some users with high or low mid-range graphics have managed to renew it, but there are still many users who have a GTX 1600 or GTX 1000 that works for them. It is also seen that AMD is still a very small percentage of Steam users' hardware.
