Intel is already testing the Raptor Lake HX for laptops
New leaks suggest that Intel has new HX CPUs on the way, which is its range of high-performance CPUs; which would be for laptops using the Alder Lake architecture. Recently, an unannounced 5th Gen Intel Core i13600-13HX CPU has surfaced in a database, which suggests that at least engineering samples are being distributed for testing to manufacturers, and one of them would have done a CrossMark benchmark.
BAPCo's entry has been shared by Twitter user @momomo_us, and shows that the unreleased processor will have 14 cores and 20 threads. Knowing the way that Intel has to distribute the cores from the beginning of the hybrid architecture with Alder lake, means it should have 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores.
Intel would bring high-performance Raptor Lake models to laptops
This calculation has been done assuming that the configuration of the cores is the definitive one. If true, Raptor Lake's new i5 HX notebook chip will have two more performance cores than its predecessor, the Alder Lake series Core i5-12600HX. In addition to the CPU, the system has 32 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and uses integrated Xe graphics for video output.
The entry states that the system is "desktop«, but this is believed to be because the upcoming HX laptop chip uses Alder Lake-S desktop silicon, just like Alder Lake-HX. The TDP has not been shared, but given the similarities to its predecessors, it should be around 55W.
As for the score, the Core i5-13600HX performs slightly below the Core i7-12700H. But as it happens with all the benchmarks of products that have not yet been released and have not been announced, the data must be taken into account. Kitguru claims that the Core i5 chip that has been put in said benchmark would, of course, be an engineering sample that works at lower frequencies than the commercial version of the Core i7-12700H. With updated drivers and being a finalized version, the i5-13600HX will surely outperform said i7-12700H in multicore tests. Since it is a CPU for laptops, it is likely that the launch of this model will not be seen for several months, since Intel prioritizes CPU launches for desktop computers.
