The next iMac Pro could have a new 1-core M12 chip

There have been rumors that the new iMac Pros that would be announced sometime in 2022 would use some variation of Apple's M1 chip. With the announcement of M1 Pro and the M1 Max, it is logical that their new top-of-the-line computers use them, but they could also take advantage of the fact that they are desktop computers with more space to increase the number of CPU cores to 12.

The news comes from Twitter user Dylandkt, who specializes in Apple leaks. It claims that there will be an additional configuration for the next iMac Pro beyond the M1 Max, and that it would be a 12-core CPU, according to a code snippet that referenced the iMac.

The M1 would be further expanded with the new iMac Pro

El M1 Max chip It has a 10-core CPU, along with a 32-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. To increase the CPU to 12, it would be an even greater capacity than what Apple has now, although it is expected that it will be limited to the highest range top.

Given that Apple holds events to announce new features in the spring and Dylandkt himself claims that the 2022 iMac Pro is currently on track for a spring release, we can expect the announcement and release to happen in the coming months. But notice that there are concerns regarding production, so it seems possible that the iMac Pro lags a little longer due to a delay caused by the component crisis.

This model would also be one focused on the most demanding users, which makes sense to increase the number of cores. There will be lower configuration options of 2022 iMac Pro for those who do not need as much performance or have a more limited budget.
