Manufacturers of solid state hard drives are not only committed to offering high-performance solutions, but also looking to offer the highest possible capacity. The battle is getting fiercer and now Intel has been the first to strike by offering the Intel 660p that are based on the new QLC memories allowing up to 2TB in the M.2 units with excellent working speeds.
Intel now implements a new solution offering a great ratio in terms of capacity / speed / price in these new SSDs which are M.2 NVMe format to offer the maximum possible performance. The most basic unit will be 512GB and will have a price of $ 99, which means that it will have a price less than € 100 indicating that they will be sold as churros.
New Intel memories
We can see that with the same capacity Intel's SSD is faster than Samsung's with a lower price. It should be noted that the 660p is a PCIe format while the 860 EVO is a SATA-type SSD without more. The secret of these units is based on the new memories, which allow to store four bits per cell, increasing the capacity of the units in the same space by 33%.

The industry is currently in the process of moving from TLC to QLC, although Intel is the first to launch units of these characteristics. It will reduce the price of SSDs by making HDDs completely obsolete while increasing the capacity and improving the performance of these drives.
