According to a recent leaked benchmark, the Alder Lake series Intel Core i9-12900K even outperforms the 2990-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 32X. This leak comes from REHWK, from a CineBenchR23 benchmark with the Intel Alder Lake series 9 + 12900-core Core i8-8K CPU.
If this leak is correct, it would be the first consumer processor to exceed the 30.000 point barrier in CineBenchR23. Its score reaches 30.549 points and is above AMD's ThreadRipper.
More than 30.000 points in CinebenchR23
While the AMD Ryzen 9 Threadripper 2990WX CPU surpasses those 30.000 points, they do so just 54 points higher. That Intel Core i9-12900K on the other hand, according to Wccftech, is at the higher end of the consumer desktop market and is comparable to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X. Its performance is 7% better than the Ryzen 9 5950X, in that same benchmark.
The recent series of Alder Lake performance leaks make this a special time for Intel to get back to the top of high-performance CPUs. Its flagship CPU would surpass those of AMD, who would not launch their Zen 4 series until 2022, which would give Intel a lot of advantage, who would also be adapted to DDR5 RAM, and PCIe 5.0.
For the eternal war between Intel and AMD in the market of the CPUS, the Zen 4 would have to in addition to accepting DDR5, be compatible with PCIe 5.0. Additionally, when they launch Zen 4, Intel will already be on track to launch their next series of Raptor Lake CPUs, which little is known about and could improve the performance and efficiency of the Intel Alder Lake CPUs coming out later this year.
