The third generation of Intel Arc will be focused on ultra enthusiasts in 2024

A few hours ago, Intel revealed its plans for the Arc Alchemist GPUs released. Alongside these announcements, he has also given some initial ideas for the third series of intel arc GPUs, the Celestial series, scheduled for release in 2024.

It could take two years for Intel to catch up to current NVIDIA/AMD GPUs in terms of performance. With the Arc Alchemist GPUs, Intel will target the performance segment, which is typically the X700 series products, such as the card RTX 3070 NVIDIA or the RX 6700. With the Battlemage series, which would arrive next year, Intel will add enthusiast GPUs that will possibly compete with the 800 series, which would be the current RTX 3080 and RX 6800.

Intel expects the top of the range Intel Arc in 2024

Intel today announced that its XNUMXrd generation discrete Arc GPUs, whose code name is Celestial, will be even faster and models focused on the enthusiast segment will arrive. These would be equivalent to the X900 series, that is, the RTX 3090 and the RX 6900. But ahead of its launch, NVIDIA may have launched the RTX 4000 generation and even an intermediate generation such as 3500 or 4500, so it would not be enough to make them equivalent to the current RTX 3090, unless they want to offer a modern model for ultra-enthusiasts at a lower price.

With this announcement, they confirmed that their series of Intel Arc Celestial GPUs is in the development phase. They expect a 2023 and 2024 release for the Battlemages, so Celestial could launch in late 2024 or early 2025.

The Druid series, which would be the fourth generation of Intel Arc, would be released in 2025, but these plans could change. It will use the Xᵉ Next architecture, which will be completely different from the improvements Intel will be making from Alchemist to Celestial.
