Intel Atom Elkhart Lake are seen in a Chinese store

Intel's current situation in the processor market is getting quite complicated. The Comet Lake-S that just came out, they are not by far the best processors released by the company. From China we get data about the Elkhart Lake processors. The Chinese store CogoBuy has shown one of these low-end processors from the Intel Atom family.

These new Elkhart Lake processors that bring the next generation of Intel Atom to life do not add much. Perhaps the most relevant aspect is that they are based on 10nm lithography and the integrated graphics are Gen11. Unfortunately, 10nm lithography doesn't quite work for desktop processors.

Leaked data from Intel Elkhart Lake processors

Based on the data we have on the Elkhart Lakes, they are based on Tremont 10nm lithography cores. These next-generation Intel Atom are complemented with a Gen11 graphics, not opting for a solution based on the Xe architecture. Very simple processors that have a Single Channel controller that support DDR4 and LPDDR4 memories.

Let's not expect great power in these processors, since they are designed for simple tasks, such as office automation. These Intel Atom Elkhart Lake will have a 2-core and a 4-core variant, both with HyperThreading. It should be noted that these processors will not support AVX instructions. Note that these Atom solutions will arrive with TDP that may be 6W, 9W and 12W.

Although the Chinese store already allows reservations for these processors, they have not yet been officially announced. These new Intel Atom processors based on Tremont @ 10nm will not be a thing from another planet. Being intended for simple systems, we should not expect much from them either. We will see if they are capable of being competition for AMD's low-end APUs.
