The flagship desktop CPU of the Intel Alder Lake Core series, the i9-12900K; has appeared once again within the SiSoftware SANDRA benchmarks database and detected by TUM_APISAK. Much higher clock speeds and efficient cross-thread performance have been seen this time.
The Intel Core i9-12900K will be the flagship chip within the 12th Gen Alder Lake desktop CPU lineup. The software lists the processor with various clock speeds that could be the boost clocks for both the P-Core (Golden Cove) and the E-Core (Gracemont).
The highest of Alder Lake reaches 5 Ghz
According to the data obtained with the benchmarks, the Intel Core i9-12900K Alder Lake-S CPU will have 16 cores and 24 threads. That is organized into 8 P-Core (with 16 threads) and 8 E-Core (with 8 threads). The CPU has 30MB of L3 cache that is partitioned into 3MB per core on the P-Core (Golden Cove) and 3MB per cluster on the E-Core (Gracemont). That's 8 P-Cores per 24 MB of the P-Cores and 6 MB of the two clusters that comprise 4 E-Cores each. There is also 1,25MB of L2 cache for a total of 12,5MB across the entire chip.
In terms of clock speeds, the Intel Core i9-12900K features a P-Core base and will have an increase in clocks from 3.2 GHz to 5.3 GHz and the E-Core base. It will also increase clocks from 3.0 to 3.9 GHz. These boost clocks are single core. Boost frequencies for all cores are expected to be 5.0 GHz for the P-Core and 3.7 GHz for the E-Core. Higher speeds will be achieved only when the TVB (Thermal Velocity Boost) process has been activated, so it is unrealistic to expect those speeds without some overclocking.
The Intel Core i9-12900K in the benchmark ran at about 5.08 GHz. There is also another clock mentioned at 3.6 GHz, which could be the average boost clock of the E cores, although that remains to be seen. Exact figures for its power could not be obtained, so the standard TDP of 125W is mentioned.
