The Intel Core i9-12900KS processor is postulated as the best that the family could offer Alder lake. A user has already received his CPU and has taken the opportunity to make the inevitable benchmark.
A comparison of the CPU with other high-end CPUs shows that Intel's new processor can be the best CPU on the market when it hits the market. that is counting on the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, up to 30%.
Intel's new top-of-the-line CPU outperforms all of AMD's
The launch of the Intel Core Alder Lake i9-12900KS is imminent, and that means that some users, mainly those who have been pre-purchased by a retailer, have already received it. One of these lucky ones is Seby9123, who tested the processor thoroughly in a Cinebench R23 benchmark.
At first, the Intel Core Alder Lake i9-12900KS it is very similar to its predecessor, with a total of 16 cores, of which eight are performance and eight are efficiency; and 24 threads. It has higher base and boost clock speeds, reaching 3,4 GHz and 5,5 GHz respectively on its performance cores. The 5,5GHz result applies to only two of your performance cores, while the CPU reached 5,2 GHz on all eight cores. Performance cores top out at 4,0 GHz when boosted, but there's no mention of the base clock speed of those cores. Keep in mind that the device has a very fast DDR5 memory, specifically a DDR5-6200 at 32-38-38-76.
Comparing the i9-12900KS to its predecessor, the i9-12900K, shows a 6,7% improvement in single-core and 5,7% improvement in multi-core performance, when running DDR5 memory. When comparing it to the best processor on the market from AMD, the Ryzen 9 5950X; the Core i9-12900KS beats the Ryzen 9 5950X in multi-core operations by 9,2% and by 29,6% in single-core tasks.
Although this dominant position of the best CPU on the market may change as soon as the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D. It will be released on April 20 with its expected V-Cache 3D, which allows you to have more cache by taking advantage of layer stacking. It will be a matter of waiting a month or so to see if AMD can make Intel's throne of fastest consumer CPU last just a month.
