Intel Core i9-9900KS would have been discontinued after 4 months on the market

Currently, the hardware market offers a wide variety of solutions, depending on usage and budget. A few weeks ago, for example, AMD launched the Ryzen 5 1600AF , which is based on a 12nm manufacturing process , even though the Ryzen 3000 series is already available. Now, we've come across another rather curious development: Intel has reportedly discontinued the Core i9-9900KS.

The Core i9-9900KS processor is simply a 9900K with a Boost clock speed of 5.0GHz and a TDP of 127W. This processor was released about four months ago and was marketed as the best gaming processor on the market. Shortly after, the company discontinued it, possibly due to the imminent arrival of the Comet Lake-S and AMD's Ryzen 3000 series.

We say goodbye to the Core i9-9900KS processor

As we mentioned, the Core i9-9900KS is the same as the 9900K; both have 8 cores and 16 threads. The difference lies in the clock speeds, as the new processor starts at 4.0GHz and reaches 5.0GHz in Boost mode. The TDP also changes, now being 127W.

It says goodbye for two factors: the Comet Lake-S are just around the corner and have not been sold just for the Ryzen 3000. Facing the Ryzen 7 3800X is not easy, since it is a processor that is around 150W of consumption and the price is lower. And is that the Intel processor exceeds 250W consumption and 90ºC at full load, being a headache when it comes to cooling it.

It is not the first time we have seen something similar on the market. AMD a few months ago stopped making the Radeon VII, a graphics that only lasted six months on the market. This graph lacks custom models, since it had high consumption and significant temperature problems. But it was also an extremely expensive graphic that made it uninteresting.
