Intel says there will be spare stock of 10nm-based Ice Lake-U processors
Given the latest rumors, Intel comes out to say that there will be a stock of Ice Lake-U processors based on the 10nm own lithography.
In recent days, Intel processors are giving a lot to talk about, but not exactly for the better. According to new rumors Intel would not launch gaming processors based on 10nm lithography. It somewhat clashes with the rumor that Intel released the Ice Lake-U based on the 10nm lithography. But the company has also announced that it will have plenty of stock for these laptop processors. Although on the other hand it has not given data about desktop processors based on this lithography.
Intel says it will have Ice Lake-U processors to spare
These new Ice Lake-U processors are designed for entry-level and mid-range laptops. Some processors planned for the beginning of the year but which have been delayed for several months. The company says processors will begin shipping to manufacturers during the third quarter. Laptops based on these processors are expected to arrive by the fourth quarter, around Christmas time.
Note that these new processors will support the new VNNI instructions for neural networks. Logically these new processors will implement a GPU, possibly quite discrete. It will implement a new controller that supports LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X memories. This is an extra performance improvement for notebook computers.
"On the 10nm process technology front, our teams performed well in the first quarter and our speed is increasing," said Bob Swan, Intel CEO. “We are still on track to have the volume of customer systems on the shelves for the holiday sales season. And over the past four months, the organization has driven a nearly 2x improvement in the speed at which 10nm products are being manufactured. ''
