It would take at least 5 years for Intel to catch up with TSMC again
Everything suggested that TSMC's announcement to stop producing chips for Huawei would be a problem for the company. With Apple's idea of making its own processors and Intel's problems, it seems like it's not such a bad idea. Today it would be the most important foundry in the world, well ahead of Intel. Analysts even say that for the next five years Intel will not be able to compete with TSMC.
Intel's problem with 10nm seems to carry over to 7nm lithography. We must go back to July 18, 2019 when Bob Swan, CEO of Intel, assured that 7nm would be in two years. Now it turns out that hopefully we'll see them by the end of 2022, hopefully.

The current production of TMSC and even the 5nm lithography already has an owner today. This foundry would have everything sold for the next two years, being generous in the estimate. It would even have had occasional problems meeting the demand from AMD. While Intel is still stuck at 14nm and things are not looking good.
The first 5nm chips are planned to be for Apple and Qualcomm, for their SoCs. It should be noted that due to the size of the DIE, it is easier to make a smartphone chip than a PC chip. When TSMC has the more mature 5nm process, that will be when it will start producing Ryzen processors.
Intel for its part continues with 14nm and will continue at least one more year with this lithograph. 10nm lithography has been a disaster on all levels and they can barely make laptop chips that leave much to be desired. The 7nm delay only further complicates the company's plans.
Analysts say that for the next 5 years Intel will have serious problems and will be unable to compete with TSMC. It seems that now it is becoming a little clearer why Jim Keller has set foot in dust.
