They are not desktop processors, the first processors in 10nm are the Ice Lake for laptops. Ice Lake is based on the Sunnycove architecture and they should be on the market shortly. Intel's strategy is to start with the laptop market, one of the most important for the company, and then make the leap to desktops and gamers. Lately it has been rumored a lot that Intel still had problems with 10nm, but they wanted to make it clear at Computex 2019 that nothing of that.

After several years of delay and pilgrimage in the desert of lithographs, we finally see 10nm. Although we still have to see how they perform and, above all, when the desktop versions arrive, something is something. These processors implement important improvements at the architecture level and especially at the graphics level, since they have Gen11 iGPUs. On the desktop processors, everything goes according to the data we had and will arrive at the end of this year. So 10nm for desktop PCs is closer than many thought.
The company up to 14nm was based on what they called 'Tik-Tok', which is nothing more than a lithography in the first range of processors and then a second range of processors arrives based on this already more polished lithography. With 14nm this has not happened, there have been four generations of processors based on 14nm. The problem is that the 10nm has resisted more than expected. Intel has also made it clear on several occasions that 7nm EUV is on the right track, so we could see only two families of 10nm processors.
Performance improvement, new technologies and energy efficiency
Currently, you no longer only look at the raw power in a processor, it is demanded more and more. According to Intel, its 10nm processors offer energy efficiency, thinking about the autonomy of laptops. They claim that the next Ice Lake-based laptops could have 16-hour battery life. WiFi 6 and 5G technology will be implemented in upcoming laptops and ultrabooks.
Intel Core i9-9900KS, the latest 14nm processor?
While we already knew about it because Intel had shown it on Twitter, the Core i9-9900KS has now been officially announced . This processor doesn't offer much new; it's a special version of the Core i9-9900K, but with all cores operating at 5.0GHz in Boost mode. The base frequency of this 8-core, 16-thread processor is 4.0GHz. They haven't released any information about the TDP, but it must be quite high. Furthermore, the company took the opportunity to announce that the Core-X processors will arrive this fall, possibly also on a 14nm process.
