Intel to invest billions of dollars to expand its Arizona D1X plant

According to new information, it appears that the company plans to invest a lot of money in its Oregon research plant. This plant is called D1X and is vital to the company. The expansion of the factory will begin this same month of June and billions of dollars will be invested in it.

Intel D1X Plant Expansion

This facility is the most advanced in the company in terms of new technology research. These facilities double in capacity to other plants that the company has spread throughout the globe. This application is speculated to be due to Intel's adoption of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography. A machine for this type of lithography is as big as a bus and costs about 120 million dollars. A few months ago the company already said that 7nm was very advanced through the EUV process. This will allow the development of more powerful processors with lower consumption.

Said D1X plant has an area of ​​about 2 million square meters, which was sold to be like 400 soccer fields. The new application would be about 1 million square meters. This expansion of the facilities could be announced on Thursday, which is when the company plans to publish the financial results for 2018.

The D1X plant is essential because it is where the new processors are developed and where their manufacture begins. This manufacturing process is then taken to plants in Arizona, Ireland and Israel.
