Intel announced the new Stratix 10 GX 10M FPGA that has the largest number of transistors in the world, 43 billion
Within the processor market there are many different aspects and solutions. Among them are FPGAs or field programmable logic gate arrays. Intel has just announced the largest of its kind, the Intel Stratix 10 GX 10M, which is built in 14nm. This specific processor for advanced tasks has 43 billion transistors, something that had not been achieved until now.
The Stratix 10 GX 10M FPGA has no less than 10.2 million logic cells within two large arrays. All parts of this processor are interconnected using Intel EMIB. Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge technology is a connection point between high performance and efficiency parts.
Intel introduces the FPGA with the most transistors to date
The solution developed by Intel in addition to the two logic poets matrices, has four other matrices connected by EMIB. These have 48 transceivers that offer us a combined bandwidth of 4.5Tbps.
This unit has a high bandwidth thanks to the 25 EMIB interconnections that offer up to 920Tbps of bandwidth. This prevents any kind of bottleneck in the data. Additionally, it has 6.5 2 user I / O pins, allowing the connection of a large number of ports for all kinds of needs.
According to the company, this new FPGA has a consumption 40% lower than four Stratix 10 2800, with the same logic capacity and the same frequency. We see how efficiency has been greatly improved despite being based on 14nm.
Intel Stratix 10 GX 10M is posited as the perfect solution for prototyping and large-scale ASIC emulation. The increasing number of transistors allows it to be more efficient than other solutions for the emulation of different solutions.
