Intel announces discrete graphics for Iris Xe MAX notebooks

The dedicated Iris Xe MAX graphics have been announced by Intel, which are based on the 10nm SuperFin manufacturing process. These new graphics cards make use of Intel Deep Link technology. Deep Link technology “aggregates multiple processing engines through a common software framework to deliver new features and improve PC performance.”

These new Intel Iris Xe MAX graphics chips will only be found in the Acer Swift 3x, ASUS VivoBook Flip TP470 and Dell Inspiron 15 7000 laptops. These new laptops with these integrated graphics will not arrive until 2021. Later, during 2021, more laptops based on these discrete graphics will arrive.

Intel Announces New Dedicated Discrete Graphics for Laptops

The Iris Xe MAX silicones integrate 96 EUs that work at a maximum frequency of 1.65GHz. These graphics chips are accompanied by 4GB LPDDR4X that provide a bandwidth of 68GB / s. Furthermore, these graphics make use of the PCIe 4.0 interface and support 8K @ 60FPS video output. We are talking about a gaming performance similar to an entry-level graphics, ideal for multimedia and less demanding games.

From the company they assure that this Intel Iris Xe MAX GPU can reach 1080p @ + 30FPS in games like Borderlands 3, The Witcher, Metro Exodus, etc. For eSports titles, this graphic under 1080p resolution can reach 45FPS. Intel guarantees performance improvements through software optimizations.

Intel Deep Link Technology adds multiple processing engines under a common software framework. This enables new features and significant performance improvements to be offered to computers. It enables the development of thinner and lighter notebooks while maximizing CPU performance. Add power in creating AI solutions and add value to coding, taking it to a new level.

This technology works by bringing together the processing engines under a common software framework. So software developers can dramatically increase the performance of content creation workloads. Applications can scale certain workloads using integrated graphics and dedicated graphics. Examples:

  • An additive AI feature that enables inferring and rendering on both GPUs for accelerating workloads in content creation
  • Combination of industry leading encoding engines on each GPU using hypercoding. Allows video rendering and review time to be reduced
