Intel Introduces Xeon Gold U-Series Processors for Servers and Workstations
Introduced the new Intel Xeon Gold U-Series processors, the new Skylake architecture server and workstation processors.
A few weeks ago, the new Xeon Cascade Lake architecture processors were presented by Intel. Initially they only featured Xeon Scalable processors. In addition to those processors, the Xeon Gold U-Series have now been presented, intended for servers and Workstations. They also have the mission of fighting against the AMD EPYC P-Series. They are processors mainly intended for heavy tasks, such as programming, photo and video editing, etc.
Intel Introduces Xeon Gold U-Series Processors
These Xeon processors are based on the Skylake architecture based on the 14nm ++ manufacturing process. The new Intel processors do not have Ultra Path Interconnect (UPI) technology. Lacking UPI technology, multi-CPU configurations cannot be performed. Something positive about these processors support DDR4 Hexa-Channel RAM @ 2933MHz.
As the top of the range model we will have the Gold 6212U, which will have 24 cores and 48 threads. This new processor has a base frequency of 2.4GHz and can reach 3.9GHz in Boost mode with a TDP of 165W. Although there is an important stumbling block and that is that this processor costs $ 2.000. We have on the other hand the Gold 6209U, which will be the simplest of these processor. This has 20 cores and 40 threads, with a base frequency of 2.1GHz and in Boost mode it will reach 3.9GHz. This processor has a TDP of 125W and is priced at $ 1.000.
