Intel receives complaints from workers of lack of safety measures, although OSHA does not detect irregularities

A few days ago Intel Graphics published a quite controversial tweet where Jim Keller and Raja Koduri wore their masks wrongly inside the office. Now, several workers say that Intel is prioritizing chip manufacturing over worker safety. Although it should be noted that protection measures in production plants are usually very advanced.

We're not entirely sure what they're referring to, but in semiconductor plants , you have to wear special suits to access most areas. Perhaps these workers are referring to the research and development areas for new products, not the production areas.

Intel does not seem to guarantee the health and safety of workers

As indicated, Intel would be forcing to work in large groups without the use of masks. Some middle managers have even indicated that social distancing could be broken for short periods. They indicate that they allow them to be less than two meters for periods of less than 30 minutes.

As far as we know, up to four complaints have been filed with the relevant bodies regarding these 'measures'. The complaints were reportedly filed with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which has sent inspectors. It should be noted that OSHA has not imposed sanctions, since no violations of the standards have been detected.

Intel's top priority in managing the coronavirus situation is protecting the health and well-being of employees, while continuing to operate and support our customers around the world. This has been an incredibly dynamic and unprecedented situation, and we have worked to learn and adapt as quickly as possible so that we can continue to protect our workers and communities.

We encourage our employees to raise concerns and work hard to address them quickly. Intel submitted formal responses to the complaints, and OSHA inspectors visited our sites in Oregon, Arizona, and New Mexico. We have not received any penalties, and OSHA inspectors who visited our sites congratulated us on our actions.
