Intel SSD Optane M15, faster read and write speed with reduced consumption
Introduced the new Intel SSD Optane M15 units, which provide significant improvements in read and write speed, reducing consumption.
Intel's commitment to Optane units is quite strong and they continue to present products of this type. They have just introduced the Optane Memory M15 SSDs, the new NVMe drives that have higher capacity and performance, while reducing consumption. These drives are an upgrade from the Optane Memory 10, which can also do the cache storage function for acceleration of mechanical hard drives. It is true that with the decline in SSDs it makes little sense to buy an HDD and an Optane unit, which will cost more or less the same as a 500GB SSD, at least.
Intel Introduces New Optane Memory M15 SSDs
These new Optane M15s provide an improvement in capacity and performance over the first generation. The first drives were 16GB and 32GB, while this new drive comes in 64GB. Intel has also improved the number of PCIe lanes used by this drive from PCIe 3.0 x2 to PCIe 3.0 x4, offering twice the bandwidth. The new controller of the company does not saturate the bus, something positive. Regarding the speeds, it has gone from a sequential reading of 550MB / s to 2GB / s and in terms of writing it reaches 90MB / s. For random reading, 450.000IOPS have been achieved and for random writing, 220.000IOPS have been achieved
The consumption of this unit has been greatly improved. They have managed to perform faster transactions in and out of sleep mode. It has been achieved in the L1.2 deep sleep mode to go down to less than 5mW.
These units come with a 365TBW endurance and a five-year warranty. These Intel Optane M15 drives are compatible with existing software for the Optane M10. This means that it allows to accelerate hard disk drives and the boot of the operating system, even in secondary volumes acceleration is achieved.
