KIOXIA, the rebranding of Toshiba Memory, begins to promote itself

Within the hardware industry there are sometimes situations that are quite difficult to understand. One of these strange changes is the name of Toshiba Memory, an established brand in the market. The company has decided to rebranding itself and renamed itself KIOXIA. From now on we will stop seeing Toshiba products to see Kioxia products on the market.

Whoever has a Toshiba product will have official support from KIOXIA, since only the name changes. Note that this new name is the conjunction of 'kioku' which is memory in Japanese and the Greek word 'axia', which means value. Thus was born the curious name of KIOXIA, which replaces the name Toshiba Memory.

KIOXIA, the rebranding of Toshiba Memory

Toshiba Memory is one of the largest manufacturers of BiCS NAND Flash memory on the market. It currently supplies memory to a large number of SSD assemblers.

Despite the fact that the brand is promoting itself with the typical videos that are too artificial (for my taste), it has given some interesting information. From KIOXIA they emphasize that 3D Storgate-Class Memory, such as Intel's 3D Xpoint, are not the future. The company highlights that BiCS Flash and XL-Flash technologies are better options for the storage market.

To our knowledge, KIOXIA does not yet offer products to retailers, although it does offer solutions to the OEM and enterprise market. Everything indicates that this year the company will work on promoting the new brand and they have already started. They have only shown one video so far, we assume that during CES 2020 they will make some noise.
