Will the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti give 150MH / s on Ethash for Ethereum mining?

A rumor appears that the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 would give a minimum of 85MH / s and could reach 150MH / s for Ethereum

It is possible that from next week there will be the first leaks of the new NVIDIA graphics cards. The RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 have not left anyone indifferent. AMD's detractors and fanboys have seen the sky open with the price, the only possible criticism of these new graphics and the first 'data' that are being seen with the Ray Tracing technology in the Alpha phase of development. Although another could come that few have and that is more present and latent than anyone believes: Ethereum mining

NVIDIA's RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 would be a beast for Ethereum mining

We must emphasize that the mining process of a block generated through the Proof-of-Work protocol requires third parties to decrypt the key (block validation) and distribute it to the other members so that they can check the validity of the block confirming that there is consensus. Basically the consensus is the rules of the blockchain and nobody can skip them and in case an error is detected, the block is discarded.

Ethereum uses the Ethash algorithm (used in Ethereum) that takes advantage of the memory of graphics cards, so the higher the transfer speed and the higher the data bus, the higher the performance. Other algorithms bet more on GPU computing or a combined system.

According to a rumor or a speculation (each one who calls it whatever it comes to) the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX would give a minimum power of between 80-85MHs and could reach up to 140-150MH / s with overclocking. It involves multiplying by three to five times the power of the GTX 1080 Ti.

Those who think of Bitmain's ASIC for Ethereum, it offers a power of 190MH / s for about $ 1.300 (assuming there is stock). However, the problem is that these machines once they leave the factory lose their value quickly and it can be difficult to put them back second hand. On the other hand, an RTX 2080 Ti or an RTX 2080 should not be difficult to put back on the market and sell for $ 200-300 less than the initial cost (taking into account that we had already amortized part or all of the graph.

We must emphasize that Bitmain's ASIC has a consumption of more than 1000W and it is expected that each RTX 2080 Ti at most reaches 300W of consumption in the worst case. If the data is confirmed, it is possible that gamers will find it difficult to buy these graphics cards, although at the price they are at, it was already difficult from origin.

  1. Is that really what you care about? Spend € 1.300 to mine, now. Go lights. The publication seems like a joke to me.

    1. Those of us who know about mining know that it is profitable to mine. You are not going to get rich, but it gives you and the normal thing is to change the minimum to pay for the electricity and the rest.
