The new Intel Coffee Lake processors cannot be installed on Kaby Lake and Skylake motherboards and these processors cannot be installed on Coffee Lake motherboards.

Something very criticized about the new Intel processors, the Coffee Lake, is that they are not compatible with the motherboards for Kaby Lake and Skylake, so Intel Z370 motherboards will be necessary. These processors will hit the market on October 5 and what has now been known is that Coffee Lake motherboards will not support Skylake and Kaby Lake processors, although they share the LGA 1151 socket, there will be no compatibility between these generations of processors.

This will be high to begin with, but it is possible that a future BIOS update of the Coffee Lake, if it allows to install these processors. This difference between these generations and the lack of compatibility, is due to the fact that the new Coffee Lake processors will have a maximum version of six processors and that is why they would not be supported on boards of previous generations and which would limit the use of generation processors earlier on these new motherboards for these Intel processors. Those who have a Kaby Lake system, really have little reason to upgrade, since for gaming with four processors there is more than enough, neither six cores, nor eight, nor sixteen are necessary.

The negative is that these chipsets do not contribute much, compared to the Intel 200 Series and Intel 100 Series chipsets. Perhaps, the only important novelty of the Intel 200 Series, is that they support Intel Optane units, which are currently not popular, due to their limited capacity and that can only be used as cache units, something that makes them unattractive, Although it is a technology with great potential, at the moment, it is somewhat stopped, so, unfortunately, it is not something relevant.
