They carry the Intel Core i7 8700K processor at 7.344MHz on an ASUS Z270 motherboard

They install an Intel Core i7 8700K on an ASUS Z270 motherboard, then overclock it to 7.344MHz.

Waxing processors is a sport, clearly. And what do we all like to see how far the gum can stretch? We say this because the Intel Core i7 8700K processor has been subjected to some pretty extreme overclocking. The person in charge of this has been Dancop and to reinforce the Intel processor he has used the ASUS RoG Maximus IV Apex motherboard, a motherboard, curiously, that makes use of the Z270 chipset, which is theoretically not compatible for Coffee Lake- S.

Overclocked Intel Core i7 8700K processor on Z270 motherboard.

This overclocking expert, of German origin, uses BIOS 0084, which dates from June 11, which will allow the use of this six-core processor. Thanks to this, it has taken the processor to 7344MHz, logically, with an extreme cooling system. Additionally, this system uses 8GB of DDR4 RAM @ 4.000MHz in a Dual Channel configuration. This overclocking has served to break the world record for SuperPi 32M.

Additionally, a small trick has been used, which is to disable a part of the cores, specifically in this case three cores and a large part of the threads have been disabled, leaving it as a three-core and three-thread processor. Logically, the more threads, the more heat is generated and the more instability.

The processor, running at 7.344MHz, has clocked 7,609 seconds in SuperPI 32M. To achieve this, the multiplier has been brought up to x73 and the base frequency was brought to 100.61Hz, with a working voltage of 1,984V. The most interesting thing about this is the motherboard, this being a Z270, with a new BIOS, which will allow a Coffee Lake-S processor to be installed.
