1TB SSDs are worth less than half what they were a year ago
A 1TB capacity solid state hard drive or SSD is already worth less than half what it was a year ago and is expected to continue to drop in price.
The advent of new QLC memories, 96-layer TLC memories, and falling system sales have caused the price of SSDs to plummet. This year the price of solid state hard drives is expected to drop significantly this year. So much so that SSD drives with capacities for 512GB and 1TB drives have seen their price reduced by more than 50% compared to the prices of early 2018.
The price of SSD capacities of 512GB and 1TB drops more than 50%
Different sources indicate that SSDs with a capacity of 1TB have gone from costing about 260 dollars at the beginning of 2018 to less than 100 dollars today. If we look further back in time these 1TB units were priced at approximately $ 320. We see how the price has been falling to the current price, very low.
Although NAND Flash chips for SSDs are increasingly being adopted, prices will continue to fall. According to the information, a sequential fall of at least 15% is expected in this first quarter of the year. This is due to a decrease in the number of chips for the higher capacity SSDs and the fall in prices of the same.
Double good news, as DDR4 RAM prices have fallen dramatically. Although the fall continues and it is costing it to be reflected in prices in stores, the prices of DDR4 modules continue to fall in this first quarter of 2019. The price adjustment is due to excess stock that Samsung, SK Hynix and Toshiba. One of the factors is Intel's problem in meeting Intel's demand for processors.
