Intel reconfirms the departure of Meteor Lake in 2023 and Lunar in 2024

Yesterday, Intel posted one of the worst quarterly data in several years, with losses in all major segments. Together with the presentation of these data, they signed that the results will not affect your internal plans or roadmaps for next-generation CPUs for clients and servers.

That is, Intel Meteor Lake and Lunar Lake CPUs will be released in the second half of 2023 and 2024 for customers, respectively. For their part, the Emerald Rapids and Granite Rapids server CPUs will do so sometime in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Intel maintains the launch plans of its next home and server CPUs, nothing changes

As announced, are ready to start production of their Meteor Lake CPUs today based on process node Intel 4. Both the Intel 4 and Intel 3 compute nodes look good, according to Intel, and are on track to become its first EUV-powered designs for the CCG and DCG.

Intel's GCC will work on two major products for 2023 and 2024. These are the Meteor Lake CPU architecture, which will become available in the second half of 2023; and Lunar Lake, which will do so in the second half of 2024. Both CPU lines are intended for mobile devices, and Lunar Lake is labeled as "optimized for ultra-low power performance“, so we can expect them to have a high emphasis on low-power laptops, not so much on desktops. Arrow Lake is not mentioned, but it is known that it will also be released sometime in 2024, while Lunar Lake will be a more realistic product in 2025.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CCG (Client Computing Group), has stated that the Lunar Lake family will have a new architecture and a totally new design built from the ground up. It will primarily focus on bringing big performance-per-watt improvements in the mobile space, with more information expected to be revealed at financials on January 26. With this, it can be seen that Intel wants to gain even more presence in the laptop market, since there is a trend of high renewal and that many family and educational environments are turning towards this model compared to desktops, which is left for the most enthusiastic .
