Finally Microsoft confirms the Xbox One S "All-Digital Edition", a version of the company's console without an optical drive that will be presented shortly.

Some time ago there was talk about the possibility that Microsoft will launch an Xbox that does not have an optical drive. Finally, Microsoft itself has reported that it will launch the Xbox One S edition in April, dubbed "All-Digital Edition." It clearly means that it will only be for digital content.

An interesting bet by Microsoft, which makes it the first desktop console without an optical drive. We can only play games purchased in the company's own store in the cloud. It means saving costs for the company and will allow to launch cheaper consoles and start cleaning stock. Supposedly next year we will see new Microsoft consoles and we have to leave room.
There are no changes at the hardware level, the optical drive is simply dispensed with. It is true that fewer and fewer games are being sold and many no longer have a disc, simply a code for the digital store.
It is also rumored that a special version based on Fortnite could arrive. We could see how the console and the controller have a vinyl based on the game and even include exclusive cosmetics. This could lead to an increase in console sales, as long as the price of this special edition Xbox One S is not absurdly expensive.
The two models, the edition without an optical unit and the edition with the Fortnite vinyl, would be presented in mid-April. Supposedly these consoles will hit the market next May. Sounds interesting right?
