On September 2, the new NVIDIA Ampere graphics cards are announced, about which we already know a lot of data. There is still much to know about them, it is true, as names, performance or final characteristics. Meanwhile it has been revealed that MSI has registered 29 Ampere graphics cards with the Economic Commission for Eurasia (ECC). It seems that the company expects a strong landing of graphics.
Initially NVIDIA, as usual, should launch the top-of-the-range models. We may see the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 or RTX 3080 Ti, or whatever NVIDIA finally calls it. Then the RTX 3070 should be added, then the RTX 3060 and finally the low-end graphics.

Not much is known about these new models, but based on the names, there is some speculation. MSI has registered 14 models for a GPU named V388, 11 models for a V389, and 4 models for a V390. It seems that the final name for graphics cards is well hidden from NVIDIA and its partners.
It seems that V390 would refer to the RTX 3090 that would have four variants customized by MSI. The V389 would be referring to the RTX 3080 and represents a total of 11 versions. Finally we have the V388 which would refer to the RTX 3070 and would have a total of 14 variants. We talk about a lot of graphics and the RTX 3060 or simpler models of Ampere graphics do not appear.
The amount of variant would be mainly due to the fact that some graphics such as the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3070 would arrive with two memory capacities. There is talk that the RTX 3080 could have a 10GB GDDR6X version and another 20GB GDDR6X version. Multiple heatsinks and more or less overclocking would make so many variants exist.
