NVIDIA will stop supporting Kepler graphics for laptops from April

Announced by NVIDIA that it will stop offering support for Kepler graphics for laptops from next April.

It has just been officially announced by NVIDIA that as of April support for the Kepler architecture is discontinued. The company has decided to stop supporting the laptop versions, therefore, they will not have new drivers. Therefore, it will no longer offer performance improvement, bug fixes and implementation of features for these. As is logical, updates that have to do with security aspects will be maintained.

NVIDIA stops supporting Kepler for laptops

The company wanted to highlight that until April 2020 they will continue to offer patches for critical security problems that affect this architecture. Those who own a laptop with a Kepler GPU will have one year to upgrade their equipment. It should be noted that the average user is not usually affected by security breaches, although it is always better to have a patch.

Kepler is an architecture that hit the market in 2012 and has seen little performance improvement in recent years. It is unknown how many laptops are active with these charts, but the number may be minimal. It should be noted that this only affects laptop graphics, at the moment Kepler for desktop will receive updates without news.

In addition, support will be discontinued in April for NVIDIA 3D Vision technology, a technology that requires monitors and special glasses that did not win because of the absurd prices. The company has highlighted that at the end of the year they will suppress the download of 3D Vision Video Player. Security updates for this technology will end by April 2020.
