NVIDIA says TSMC will make its Ampere GPUs

The next iteration of nvidia graphics cards It will be called Ampere and among other things, it will be characterized by being manufactured in 7nm. For quite some time it has been rumored who made the company's GPUs. A few months ago it was rumored that it would be Samsung who would finally make the Ampere architecture GPUs. Jen-Hsun Huang during the GTC 2019 held in Suzhou, China, which will be manufactured by TSMC.

Very interesting information right at a time when TSMC is rumored to be having manufacturing problems. It has even begun to be rumored that the Radeon Pro 5500M of the desktop Apple would have been made by Samsung. The reason is that TSCM manufactures in addition to the Ryzen 3000, Apple's SoCs, HiSilicon and Qualcomm, among others, for smartphones under 7nm and would have reached the limit of production capacity.

NVIDIA confirms that TSMC will manufacture its GPUs

Jen-Hsun Huang has said that TSMC will be the one to make its next GPUs, while Samsung will play a supporting role. Note that TSM is the one who manufactured the Pascal @ 16nm graphics and more recently the Volta and Turing graphics at 12nm. Huang has also said that TSMC's 12nm is more efficient and better performance than 7nm. This is definitely a direct attack on AMD, as their Navi graphics are based on TSMC's 7nm.

Without the help of TSMC, and their advanced manufacturing processes, we would not have been as successful, which is why this collaboration between TSMC and NVIDIA is very important to us.

During the event, Huang was asked about the release date of the Ampere graphics. He has said that it is still too early to indicate that this was not the time to be revealed, it is still too early to announce. Possibly more data at CES 2020, which takes place the second week of January.
