It is leaked that NVIDIA would be preparing new GeForce RTX 20 Series graphics cards with higher frequencies and new GDDR6 memory.
NVIDIA's graphics cards based on the Turing architecture with Tensor Cores and RT Cores have been heavily criticized. These new graphics cards mostly receive criticism for their price. RayTracing is considered by some to be not an interesting or relevant technology, but AMD working to implement it says otherwise. There is still a long way to go for RayTracing to become a standard and accessible to everyone. But now NVIDIA before the proximity of the AMD Navi is moving tab to prevent Radeon from cutting ground to the GeForce.
NVIDIA works on GeForce RTX 20 models on steroids
It seems that the company would be working on 'new' silicon for its graphics. They are not really redesigned silicon, they are new GPUs under a much more advanced manufacturing process. This new silicon would support higher frequencies and would arrive with new GDDR6 chips at higher speeds. At the silicon level, performance will be gained and the increased bandwidth will also add an extra point of performance.
This is somewhat of a novelty, but it is not the first time that NVIDIA has improved its graphics. We can find different GTX 10 Series of Pascal architecture that have gone from using GDDR5 @ 9Gbps memories to GDDR5 @ 11Gbps memories. The new RTX 20 Series will use new GDDR6 memory with an extra frequency and possibly an extra bandwidth as well.
This information comes just one day after AMD announced AMD Next Horizon Gaming at E3 2019. This event is expected to unveil the 7nm Navi architecture. So, after Computex 2019, where the Ryzen 3000 series will be officially presented, the Navi architecture will be unveiled a few weeks later. Without a doubt, we're in for a hell of a summer.
