We are at a time where there is no stock of the latest graphics cards released by AMD and NVIDIA. The problem seems to go beyond silicon production problems. But not only is there a shortage of graphics solutions for gaming, there are also problems in the data center market. NVIDIA is struggling to supply this data center market, which is a priority market for the company.
Colette Kress, NVIDIA Chief Financial Officer, indicated that they have problems in the supply chain. It seems that having the COVID stoppage is creating quite a few problems in the industry. But it is also that a lack of GDDR6 memory stock.

The most recently revealed problem has been the lack of stock of GDRR6 memory for graphics cards. Without GDDR6 memory, the AMD RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT, as well as the NVIDIA RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti, cannot be produced. The NVIDIA high-end makes use of GDDR6X memory, which does not have as many stock problems.
In the case of the NVIDIA A100 destined to Data Centers, apparently, the memories would not be a problem. Although this solution uses 80GB, they are memories of the HBM2E type, which would not have production problems. The problem would be, as Kress pointed out, trouble finding substrates and other components to make these charts.
It will take several months to meet part of the demand. What is exciting is the rate of interest and growth in both training and inference. Every time we introduce a new architecture, it's a game changer, right? So the NVIDIA A100 is 20 times better than the V100, and with that comes a new wave of demand and interest in our products.

The strategy of going ahead with the launches by NVIDIA and AMD, with all the chaos of COVID has been a bad strategy. Many factories had to stop for a long time and restarting production is not usually easy. While NVIDIA is in a pretty tight spot, AMD has a ton of problems. Let us remember that it should not only supply RX 6000 Series graphics and AMD Ryzen 5000 processors, but also SoCs for Sony and Microsoft consoles.
