Supposed NVIDIA RTX 3090 SUPER would have 10.752 CUDA cores
The leaker known as Greymon55 has brought to light what would be the first of the RTX 30 SUPER, an improved version of the RTX 3060, RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. NVIDIA would already be working on updated models called SUPER of those GPUs of Ampere architecture.
For now, NVIDIA is expected to launch its RTX 30 SUPER series by the end of this year, according to leaker Greymon55 on Twitter. It is not clear for now if we will see an update to the full lineup, but they would start with the NVIDIA RTX 3090 SUPER.
An upgraded version of at least the RTX 3090 would be coming
The supposed upgraded version of the NVIDIA RTX 3090, according to Greymon55, would feature a full GA102 silicon chip with 10752 CUDA cores and even faster memory. The RTX 3090 SUPER could have a TDP exceeding 400W, which would be at least 50W more than the existing model, requiring either higher power consumption or a new, high-quality power supply.
It was previously rumored that NVIDIA could release a new GA103 GPU to upgrade the RTX 3080 to a SUPER version, as well as new high-end moving parts. This GPU together with the updated RTX 3090 SUPER could provide a noticeable increase in performance. But such an increase over the existing NVIDIA RTX 3090 model would be marginal because it would only be about 256 CUDA cores of difference between models.
Rumors about the arrival of the SUPER series collide with the recent announcement of the Intel ARC series, which is now officially confirmed for launch in the first quarter of 2022. Assuming this rumor is true, then the GeForce RTX 3090 SUPER is definitely not. It will be cheaper than the existing RTX 3090 model, so the NVIDIA RTX 3090 SUPER would be designed for the most enthusiastic users.
