G.SKILL and ASUS set a new DDR5-8888 CL88 overclocking record

G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd., today announced that they have achieved a new world overclocking record for the fastest DDR5-8888 CL88-88 memory frequency in cooperation with ASUS. This frequency speed was achieved by extreme overclocker “lupin_no_musume” using G.SKILL Trident Z5 DDR5 memory, ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 APEX motherboard, and Intel® Core™ i9-12900K processor.

G.SKILL and ASUS have been constantly pushing the limits of DDR5 memory speeds thanks to the latest Intel Z690 platform . Surpassing the previous world record for DDR5-8704 in November 2021, they have achieved a new world record for memory frequency with DDR5-8888 under extreme liquid nitrogen cooling. The memory speed has been validated by CPU-Z and can be viewed at this link.

Pushing DDR5 memory to the limit

Tequila Huang, Corporate Vice President of G.SKKILL states that they are very happy to collaborate with the ASUS ROG team to break the DDR5 frequency world record in DDR5-8888 with their best hardware. To him, this demonstrates the potential of overclocking DDR5 memory, and they will continue to put efforts into developing faster DDR5 memory for overclockers and PC enthusiasts.

DDR5 memory is one of the most promising new additions to the consumer hardware landscape. but for now it is difficult to get in terms of availability and price. But it is normal as it is still a technology that only supports a series of new Intel processors, and that AMD has not yet released compatible CPUs and motherboards. It is to be hoped that as soon as supply increases after the component crisis, and demand increases due to the fact that there is still no leisure or professional software that takes advantage of the innovations offered by DDR5, prices will stabilize and we will see more and better examples of overclocking.
