The RTX 3080 suffers a notable price cut

Could it be because for how expensive it is and the uncertainty of its profitability, mining cryptocurrencies is not an attractive investment? Why is there suddenly stock? Why are the RTX 4000 falling? Be that as it may, the RTX 3080, indisputably one of the most demanded by the most demanding gamers and enthusiasts, seems to be going down in price considerably.

At least that's according to several retailers in Australia, but it's possible that a price cut could already be suffered globally. Retailers have applied a price drop of 35%, a percentage that brings it considerably closer to the recommended retail price to the public, although there is still a certain overprice.

The RTX 3080 becomes more accessible, even in Australia

Hardware Unboxed reports that the Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC model was available for A$2.299 (about $1.696) a few days ago. Shortly after and immediately, several stores decided to collectively lower the sale price to 1.499 Australian dollars (1.109 US dollars at the exchange rate).

Prices have been falling steadily since the start of 2022, but rarely have we seen such an aggressive slashing from retailers. The RTX 3080 is aimed at the enthusiast segment, and has been one of the most coveted products during the GPU shortage, thus initially it is ruled out that it is because fewer people want it.

Most likely, they will no longer be able to sell GPUs at inflated prices. Stock availability has reached a level not seen since early 2021, bringing more competition to sell them and get them off the shelves.

GPU Price Drops Continue, But Not Enough

This RTX 3080 3080 downgrade has only materialized in the Australian market. In America, its price is around 1.323 dollars during the month of March, which is 8,1% cheaper than its average price in February. It should be remembered that NVIDIA recommends its selling price of $699, so there are still markups of $600 at most. In Australia it is cheaper and could offset its importation at the risk of customs requesting payment of the price difference.

In some European regions, the product markup for this range is 41% higher than the retail price. We will have to keep waiting to see if the prices stabilize more and if the RTX 4000 and the Intel Arc Alchemist They help alleviate this shortage of GPUs and reduce these high prices.
