Nvidia GPU prices are inflated by cryptocurrency miners

Nvidia GPU prices are inflated by cryptocurrency miners after AMDs have sold out everywhere

In recent weeks, the rise of various cryptocurrencies such as zCash, Ethereum, Monero ... has caused people to be interested in setting up miners at home and this has ended up leading to the fact that the GPUs with the highest performance in miners have disappeared from the stores around the world, the fever has started with the RX 470/570/480/580 and getting one of these today is almost impossible.

However, given the great demand that continued to exist and the non-existent supply from AMD, it was Nvidia's turn and during this last week the price of the GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 has inflated like foam. The stores have raised the models with 30 and 40 GB of VRAM memory from a minimum of 3 to 6 euros. The RX 580 arrive without problem at 350 euros when on the day of their departure they could be found at just over 250.

The same thing is happening with the GTX 1070, the memories they use are quite efficient in mining and that is why they are the next victim of mining, the price of these has been more influenced today in America, where they have gone from $ 380 to $ 470. In Spain they have remained at their already inflated starting price, at least 470 euros and they continue to be maintained.

Ethereum will increasingly need graphics cards with more VRAM memory due to the difficulty

As we see the cryptocurrency bubble does not stop growing and it seems that it will continue for quite some time, while Ethereum and zCash have stabilized near $ 400, Bitcoin ranges between $ 2500 and $ 3000. It should be noted that as the number of miners continues to increase as it has been doing in recent weeks, the difficulty of mining will rise so much that the small homemade mining rigs will no longer be profitable.

  1. I'm going to get an umbrella then... because at this rate I'll be mining in the open air 🙁
